[🍪 Privacy Marketer] What Steve Jobs said 1 week before launching the Mac

Let’s replace “computer” with “Company”, “Digital Business”.

The week before launching the Mac, Steve Jobs said:

Every computer is going to work this way. You can’t argue about that anymore. You can argue about how long it will take, but you can’t argue about it anymore.

Steve Jobs

Let’s replace “computer” with “Company”, “Digital Business”.

Every business is going to work respecting the users’ privacy. We can’t think that having DATA is more important than privacy.

We can think that ePrivacy Directive, and GDPR are silly laws created for people that they have never run a digital marketing campaign. You’re right! Regulators have never run digital marketing campaigns, but they protect our fundamental rights.

Privacy is a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT!

We must protect OUR privacy; I’m not saying you must switch off your GA4.

I’m saying that we have to give the users the possibility of not being tracked! and if they don’t want to be tracked, we have to be ready to:

  • lose this data

  • work with privacy-first solutions

Privacy matters; we have to adapt this new making decision process.

We used to make decisions based on Google Analytics data (cookie-based analytics solution). Nowadays, this is not the best option, but instead, to embrace the change and adapt to a new situation, marketers are refusing the normative and don’t want to adapt to this new reality.

As Steve Jobs said, “You can argue about how long it will take, but you can’t argue about it anymore”.

We have to adapt to this situation, we can do it today or next month, or next year.

The right question is not “Why” is “When”.
